~6 500km, 164 participants from 14 countries Brussels 21.06 – Cologne 24-26.06 – Mainz 27/28.06 – Prague 07-10.07 - Wrocław 14-16.07 – Kraków 21-23.07 – Uzhorod 28-30.07 – Bucharest 11-13.08 – Constanta 16-18.08 – Varna 21-23.08 – Istanbul 28-31.08 – Bodrum 01.09 – Alanya 13.09 – Larnaka 21.09 We started our bicycle tour in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, where administration of European Union takes place and the new office of European Cyclists Federation has been just opened, and after 70 days reached Istanbul, Turkey, the European-Asian country, which wants to join EU too. Traveling from west to east we had an opportunity to compare lives in the countries which laid bedrock to EU with those which entered EU recently or still have an objective to be part of it. Going from country to country we celebrated open borders in Europe and at the same time enjoy still existing different nationalities. After Istanbul we crossed by a ferry the Marmora and Aegean Seas and cycled 2 more weeks on the Turkish Mediterranean. The last week we spent in Cyprus on the route joining both Turkish and Greek parts of the island. The ride was organised on the basis of the BaltiCCycle principles. The daily distances are 60-100 km, and appx. one day of a rest in a week. Every morning you receive a map with the day's route, the marked places of interest and the sleeping place info. The day's schedule and the cycling speed is up to you: you can cycle individually or enjoy a friendly atmosphere of smaller or bigger group.
